* -고요/구요 is very commonly used in daily conversation. (spoken language)
* -구요 is originally the 경기도 (Gyeonggi-do) (1 tỉnh phía Bắc của Nam Hàn, bao xung quanh thủ đô Seoul) dialect, but many Seoulers say it also. Southerners hardly say -구요 since it grates on their ears. But -구요 is not really standard or right form to say. Standard form for the dictionary is -고요, but in modern spoken Korean language, so many people tend to use it, so we do understand it clearly but for the record it is wrong form to use. But what can I say? Language is alive thing. It can change the rule anyway. But for now, -구요 is wrong form from -고요.
Examples:
* 오늘은 어제보다 더 춥고요/구요, 내일은 비온대요. It's colder than yesterday, and they say it will rain tomorrow.
* 이건 비빔밥이고요/구요, 이건 고추장이에요. This is bibimbap, and this is red pepper paste.
2. -(으)려고요? (short form of -(으)려고 하세요) (Copyright: italki.com, Member: Jin) Thank you, Jin!!!
Example: 치마입고 가려고 하세요? = 치마입고 가려고요? Do you want to go out in the skirt?
* "~고요" is a short form of "~하려고 하세요?". do you want to do(~something)? (Review: -(으)려고 해요/해세요. be contracted to -고요)
Usually we say like this under an unusual situation. It sounds like that it not normal thing.
Example: 치마입고 가려고요?
it means, I don't think it's good idea that you go our in wearing a skirt.
(for example, you go out running now and I think it's so weird that you wear a skirt)
